Sweetening substances extracted or obtained from plants (Stevia rebaudiana), fruit or vegetables (strawberries, grapes, pears, melons, plums, cauliflowers, aubergines) by extraction or fermentation.
Natural sweeteners are calorie-free and cause little or no tooth decay, because they do not expose the mouth and teeth to attack by pathogenic bacteria. Unlike artificial sweeteners, natural sweeteners have no side effects.
They can also be used by diabetics because they do not interfere with glycaemia.
